Sue Wilder, MEd
Prior to being a National Education Consultant for DSC, Sue Wilder was the Reading Coach in an urban school in Orange County, Florida. She spent more than 30 years in Florida’s public schools as a classroom teacher, Exceptional Education teacher, intervention specialist, and professional developer. Sue has done post-graduate coursework at the University of Florida and holds a MEd in Exceptional Education from the University of Central Florida and a BS in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama. Sue is a regular presenter at state and national conferences and has authored articles and chapters for a variety of publications.
Tabatha Scharlach, PhD
Tabatha Scharlach has worked as an Assistant Professor of Reading Education at the University of Central Florida (UCF). At UCF she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in reading education, including Diagnosis and Development of Reading Proficiencies, Reading in the Content Areas, and Foundations of Reading. Tabatha has also been a coordinator and professional developer for Reading First Professional Development and a Research Associate for the Florida Literacy and Reading Excellence Center (FLaRE) at UCF. She has taught elementary school and was a Title I Reading Resource Teacher.
Linda Rourke, MEd
Linda Rourke began her career in education more than 30 years ago as a high school English teacher. She is currently a National Education Consultant for DSC, working with K–8 administrators, coaches, and teachers who serve diverse populations across the country. Linda holds a BA in English and a MEd in Literacy Education from Northern Illinois University.
Christine began her career as a classroom teacher in Clark County School District, Las Vegas, NV. She has taught educational courses at several universities. She is currently a National Education Consultant for DSC, working with districts, coaches, and teachers across the country. Christine holds a BS in Education from West Chester University and Med in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on literacy from University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Gina Zugelder, Ed.D.
As a National Education Consultant for DSC, Gina is pursuing her passion for professional development to support the crafts of teaching and student learning. She has experience as a literacy coach, classroom teacher, and professional development provider. She was a Reading Recovery teacher and a Literacy Collaborative Coach with certifications from Texas Tech University and The Ohio State University. As Associate Director of Literacy for Response to Intervention Teaching Learning Connection (RtI TLC), Gina supported the scale-up efforts of RtI within literacy. From the University of Central Florida, Gina holds a BS in Elementary Education, a MEd in Educational Leadership, and is a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction.
DSC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to children’s intellectual, ethical, and social development. Since 1980, DSC has conducted research and developed school-based and after-school programs that help children develop capacities to think deeply and critically so they will continue learning throughout their lives and deepen their commitment to the values of kindness, helpfulness, personal responsibility, and respect for others.

2. If you are not registering 3+ people skip this step. If you are registering 3+ people scroll down and click on the orange link that says "Enter Promotional Code", enter the code TEAMREG and then click the grey Apply button, this will apply the $50 discount.
3. Click on the orange link under the green order now button that says "Show Other Payment Options".
4. Click on the grey button that says Pay Offline.
5. Enter your registration information, the form will ask how you would like to pay, select pay with an invoice.
6. An invoice will be sent to the ticket buyer via email after the event concludes.

The Standards to Practice CCSS event really supported my professional learning of both the standards and the instructional shifts represented through Common Core. I feel the combination of examining instructional practices in the classroom through the lens of the Common Core standards was a very powerful model. I left feeling more confident about both supporting teachers with Common Core and the power of the DSC curriculum resources we use within all of our classrooms. Thank you for the insightful dialogue and engaging day of learning!
This was a day well spent and for the first time I left a workshop on the Common Core State Standards feeling like my teachers could do this; and as a result we could improve student achievement.

The Standards to Practice CCSS event really helped to clarify the standards and see them in practice through qualitiy teaching as demonstrated in various video clips and lesson experiences. I left feeling more confident about my ability to teach the standards and create a successful learning environment where my students are an active part in their learning. I also was able to see how the Standards will be met and are infused throughout every aspect of the DSC curriculum that I am currently using in my classroom, including the component where students are talking and explaining their thinking.
